The Seiyu Therapy 33 V2 is Available for Pre-Order

You may remember that back in the summer of 2025, we asked the tenkara community to get behind Tony Parmenter’s Kickstarter campaign for the Seiyu Therapy 33 V2. The campaign, which aimed to fund both an updated version of the rod and a feature-length documentary about tenkara’s role in trauma therapy, didn’t reach its funding goal. Tony, being Tony, didn’t let that stop him.

He’s now taking direct pre-orders on the Seiyu Therapy 33 2.0, and this time the window is very small.

A Quick Refresher

Tony Parmenter is a licensed psychotherapist, trauma therapy consultant, and military veteran who developed the Seiyu Therapy 33 as the primary fishing tool for his TF-EMDR therapeutic fly fishing program, which helps veterans, first responders, and others find relief from PTSD and trauma. The original rod earned solid reviews from anglers who fished it well outside of a therapy context, including Tom Davis’s review here on Tenkara Angler.

What’s New in the 2.0

The V2 is a refined version of the original with some meaningful upgrades: stronger and lighter Japanese carbon fiber throughout, improved casting, no microswivel, and a “pretty” new color. Tony is targeting a Spring 2027 release. Pre-order pricing is $130, described as well below a retail value of over $200+, and each order includes your choice of a Seiyu Tenkara shirt or hat!

The Catch

Tony is producing a very small batch of 100 to 150 rods intended primarily for his 2027 therapy clients and TF-EMDR therapists and trainees. Outside of this pre-order window, he has no plans to sell them at retail. If you want one, this is your opportunity.

How to Order

Pre-orders are being taken directly through Tony’s Square storefront. Head to https://square.link/u/N3tGmCra to place your order.

This is a quality rod with a fantastic story behind it, built by someone doing genuinely meaningful work at the intersection of tenkara and mental health. If that resonates with you, well… you know what to do…
