A Call For Submissions for the 2027 Print Issue
October is here, which means it’s time to briefly step away from our Nikko series and put out the annual call for submissions to the 2027 print issue of Tenkara Angler magazine. The real one. The one you can hold in your hands, flip through on the couch, and let a friend borrow that is curious about tenkara… if they promise to give it back. 🙂
The 2027 issue will release around the new year, right in that quiet stretch after the holidays when the fishing calendar slows down and everyone is getting inspired for the upcoming season. If you want a sense of what we put together, the 2026 and 2025 issues are available here, along with back issues going further back. People genuinely enjoy collecting these, and we enjoy making them.
We’re looking for trip reports, gear reviews, fly tying recipes, how-tos, D.I.Y. projects, interviews, artwork, photography, and whatever else you’ve got rattling around that touches on tenkara, fixed-line fly fishing, or conservation. If it fits in that space, we want to hear about it. The magazine is a community platform, and the best issues are the ones that reflect a wide range of voices and experiences from across our community.
The Details
Head over to our Submission Guidelines page for the full rundown on what we’re looking for and how to get it to us. You can submit directly through the form on that page, or just email your text and images to staff@tenkaraangler.com if that feels easier (it usually is). Either works.
The submission deadline for the 2027 issue of Tenkara Angler will be Friday November 20th, 2026.
That sounds like plenty of time right now, but it won’t feel that way in seven weeks. If you’re a fellow procrastinator, do yourself a favor and start thinking about it now.
And if you don’t consider yourself a writer, don’t let that stop you. Our editorial team will help shape whatever you send into something you’ll be proud to see in print. The idea and the experience are yours. We’ll help with the rest.
To the Brands in the Tenkara Community:
This call includes you too. If you have new gear, a guide service, or something worth putting in front of our readers, let’s talk. Same email above.
We look forward to hearing from you, and if you know someone with a story worth telling, send them our way.
Do you have a story to tell? A photo to share? A fly recipe that’s too good to keep secret? If you would like to contribute content to Tenkara Angler, click HERE for more details.
