In this latest installment in the Things I Like video series I take a look at the Zimmerbuilt Tenkara Rod Roll. A well-designed, convenient way to store and carry your tenkara rods.
From the Zimmerbuilt Website:
The Tenkara Rod Roll is designed to carry and store up to 8 tenkara rods. Keeps all your rods in one place so you can just grab and go. The Rod Roll features an accessory zip pocket to store smaller items. The side flaps are adjustable so longer rods can be stored and the ends will be protected and secured in the roll. The Roll is made of Xpac VX21 and weighs in at 8.5oz.

In case you’re not familiar with Zimmerbuilt, it’s a small business operating out of Ohio selling backpacking and tenkara gear. All of the products are made in house, in the United States, by outdoorsman & fixed line angler Chris Zimmer.

Nice review Anthony. Both the tenkara roll and tailwater pack were in my recent gear review video….love them!
Thanks. I’ll have to check that video out.
I cant imagine ever needing to take 8 rods ..
I’ve never brought 8 along, but I commonly bring 3-4. Chris uses very UL materials, so I don’t think the extra fabric would make it any less useful with less rods in there. It would also help to tidy up storage.
To be fair I am not normally going to “need” 8 rods either, especially on a day trip. But if I’m road tripping I like to take a selection of rods for different conditions, tactics and stream types.
Anthony, what the heck is that white and black zig zag handled rod? The rest I recognize.
That’s a Tanuki Snow 325. I had Jeff Lomino of Riverworks put a custom grip on it. I think this one is a woven fiberglass grip – it’s over a dense foam core.
