In case you missed it, the latest episode of the Tenkara Hansha podcast (by Graham Moran aka Tenkara Grasshopper) went live yesterday.
In this episode, Graham speaks to Dennis Vander Houwen about how tenkara impacts his everyday life, his blog Tenkara Path, and spin-off wood-working interests.
It’s quick listen at just over 20 minutes. Check it out HERE.
Is fishing for panfish like bluegill really considered “tenkara?”
Probably not, but it’s heck of a lot of fun to do with a tenkara rod!
Couldn’t help but notice over the past few weeks that Bart Lombardo, author of the blog Panfish on the Fly, (and Tenkara Angler magazine contributor), has been making some very prominent podcast rounds.
First featured on the “Tenkara Cast” with Daniel Galhardo…
Then later featured on the “Orvis Fly Fishing Guide Podcast” with Tom Rosenbauer…
So if you don’t live somewhere with trout, or heck, even if you do and just want to enjoy some panfish fun, give these two podcasts a listen. Bart is very well-spoken and clearly passionate about the subject. They’re both really, really good.
And if you’d like to learn some more from Bart, check out Panfish on the Fly, or the following posts from Tenkara Angler back-issues:

Winter 2016-17: Landlocked Salmon on Tenkara
Winter 2017-18: The James Wood Kebari
Karin Miller (Zen Tenkara) was recently featured on the Denver Outfitters podcast. Took in “Tenkara Superwoman” on my drive home from work the other day, it was a fun listen. Check it out this weekend at the embed below:
Although perhaps not truly tenkara, it’s nice to see its distant cousin micro-fishing getting some additional exposure over the last week. As some of you might have heard or read, NPR did a piece and ran a nice little article (no pun intended) on fishing for micros.
If this tiny trophy fishing interests you, the Fall 2016 issue of Tenkara Angler features Chris Stewart’s wonderful article A Niche Within A Niche Within A Niche regarding micro fishing. And don’t forget to check out TenkaraBum for a wide array of gear and technique talk regarding micros, including his newest offering, a 3×5 photo/identification tank.
Appears there was a bit of podcast trading going on over the last week or so between Daniel Galhardo’s Tenkara Cast and Tom Rosenbauer’s Orvis Fly Fishing Guide Podcast.
If you really want to geek out on tenkara this weekend, you can listen to Rosenbauer making a guest appearance on the Tenkara Cast…
…and/or Galhardo making a guest appearance on the Orvis Podcast…
Tenkara USA recently published a new Tenkara Cast regarding some of the obstacles people face when taking up new sports.
For many tenkara is a “new sport,” so it’s interesting to listen to Daniel’s thoughts on the matter. Oh, and he might even admit to picking up a reel…
