Tenkara Adventurer: A Lost Treasure

One of the best early blogs was Tenkara Adventurer, written by Laurent Marshall. It was such an enjoyable read, as he was trying many things, such as tying Zenmai fern flies, building Horsehair lines, fishing in Shower Climbing shoes, all the while pairing them with beautiful photography & writing.

Back in 2009-2010, when tenkara was still but a minor curiosity in the American angling scene, there was a pretty tight knit group of early adopters, most of which used forums, such as the Tenkara USA forum, and blogs to ask questions, communicate ideas, and explore new concepts, all centered around fixed line fly fishing. Everyone was learning from each other, there were no “experts,” self-professed or otherwise.

If you have the opportunity, please do yourself a favor and visit Tenkara Adventurer, particularly the posts from 2010. You won’t regret this look back in time.

Not sure what Laurent is doing these days; wonder if he still fishes his tenkara rods?
