Luong Tam of Tanuki Tenkara is always coming up with new rod designs and new looks. The latest is a new version of his Pocket Ninja rod: The Pocket Ninja 320 – Outbound Adventurer.
The Outbound Adventurer features graphically bold artwork and is now available for pre-order in three different versions:
Abstract Trout Skin

High Mountain Stream by Anthony Naples of Pittsburgh PA (your’s truly)

Swimming Brown Trout by Charles Jardine of the UK.

Rod Details
The Pocket Ninja 320 is an updated version of the original Tanuki Pocket Ninja 335 (which was actually a 320 cm rod). Luong says that this new version will be similar in action to the original but “it has a little stronger backbone to handle fish in faster water better.”
The Outbound Adventurer 320 is a soft to medium action rod. It is designed to be a multipurpose rod that will work well with unweighted kebari as well as dry flies and small bead-head nymphs. Because of the “gripless” design and thus direct contact with the carbon fiber of the rod itself it should be a sensitive rod for strike detection when nymphing.
