Tenkara for Public Lands Grab Bag Fundraiser

As a community of tenkara anglers, I like to think that we have good conservation ethics and a passion for preserving the wild spaces we all enjoy and love. While there are many conflicts taking place across the world, one that definitely hits home for many of us fly fishers is the proposal that over 250 million acres of United States public lands over 11 states could soon be made available for sale for private use & development.

Political proposals are always more complex than the attention grabbing headlines make them out to be, but I’m guessing few of you reading this are not too keen to lose access to public lands.

Fortunately, we happen to have some resources at Tenkara Angler that with your assistance, can help the cause of preserving these and other public lands, while adding some sweet tenkara gear to your fishing pack or tying desk.

Thanks to a generous donation by Jason Sparks & Dennis Vander Houwen, we’ve assembled 4 different tenkara-themed grab bags available through Amanda Hoffner’s LadyTenkaraBum Etsy shop, with all proceeds (after shipping expenses) to be donated to Backcountry Hunters & Anglers fight to “keep public lands in public hands.” There are limited quantities of each version, and no two identical, so if you’d like to help the cause, please act quickly. All prices include shipping.

  1. Fantastic Mike. This is important. And HEAPS of thanks to Jason, Dennis and Amanda for making it possible.

I promised in a post a few months ago to buy no more flies for at least year, but I may ask for a papal dispensation in this case…
