It’s with great pleasure I’m happy to announce that the 2022-23 print issue of Tenkara Angler has been published!

Talk about a heavyweight issue, over 140 pages of community-submitted articles and photos. It’s a well-rounded issue with a lot to offer.
Overview
After Matt & I chime in with some introductory editorial articles, the first section features Essay & Opinon, with articles about conservation, tenkara rods, and an angler’s introduction to the sport. Next we head into Trip Reports, which are all phenomenal from the East Coast to the West Coast, even a trip to the UK. Then we take a spin Around the Globe and hear from Japanese anglers (including Dr. Hisao Ishigaki), with stops in Croatia and Slovenia along the way. Fixed Line Fly Fishing catches salmon, large trout, and even everyone’s favorite fish, bluegill. Techniques & Tactics get in depth on handling big fish and smart on manipulations. For those handy, D.I.Y. & Fly Tying shares a fly recipe, builds a wading staff & an interline tenkara rod, and does something with hair you’ve probably not considered. Then we wrap up fishing the Riffles featuring some wonderful reader photos.
Familiar and new contributors include: Amanda Hoffner, Arran Kerr, Bob Mallard, Brad Wallace, Brandon Li, Brent Bunch, David Noll, David Sass, Don Lux, Diedre MacEachern, Eric Feinblatt, Dr. Hisao Ishigaki, Jared Willadsen, Joey Ortiz, Jonathan Antunez, Justin Cox, Karin Miller, Matt Fields, Matt Sment, Mike Graham, Nate Camp, Nick Feller, Satoshi Ogitani, Satuski Tanaka, Steve Allen, Tom Davis, Rich Robinson, William Robichaud, & Zen Hansen. Additional photography credits to Adam Klagsburn, Bill Holleran, Darko Gorjan, Emily Bastian, Erik Woll, Jason Sparks, Luong Tam, Martin Montejano, & Rachael Rosenstein.
For now, this issue is only available as a physical magazine and/or PDF download in the Blurb bookstore, HERE.
About the Cost
If youād like to order a physical copy, Iāll be honest, itās a bit expensive. This issue is 140+ pages and will retail for $35 as costs continue to rise, and print-on-demand isnāt cheap. (Full transparency, we only make a few $ an issue.) But I will say, and as those that have bought prior issues can attest, this Premium issue is a really high quality, heavy paper stock. Not a read & recycle/discard sort of magazine. Sheās a keeper. Perhaps we can figure out an alternative between now and the next issue.
Based on prior experience, it takes about a week or two to print, ship, and deliver the physical copies. I just ordered mine yesterday, so we’ll see how it goes this year! (There’s also a far less expensive PDF option at $10 with instant download).
What’s Next?
For those that are fans of free stuff (I mean, who isn’t?), we will look to add the 2022-23 issue to the āfreeā Issuu e-magazine reader, (as in the past), as well as publish the individual articles to Tenkara Angler itself sometime in late Winter / early Spring.
I really hope you all enjoy this issue as much as we enjoy bringing it to you. Thank you so much for being a fantastic fishing community!

Thanks for the support (& article) Dave!
Much of the high-res photography in the PDF is absolutely stunning. Kudos to all of the contributors, both prose and image!
