Over the holidays, our friends at river peak reached out to us to let us know about the Kickstarter they have in place for tomorrow, January 10th. It’s not fishing rods or gear, rather fishing art – in this case realistic trout figurines handmade by Kei Adachi, a Japanese trout angler and artist.
Once it officially launches, the Kickstarter page for the project will be quite detailed, (and includes a video), however I borrowed a few sneak peek images for here that show the process of sketching, creating the mold, trimming the cast resin, hand painting, and final mounting.

I was sent a figure of a rainbow trout in advance and I have to say, it’s extremely well done. Even nicer in person than the pictures portray it to be. Quite a bit of detail, and to think it was all hand painted. Amazing! It will be a treasured addition to my fly tying bench.

If this is of interest, as with most Kickstarters, there are several levels of support, with rewards shipping in May of 2023.
- $43 – A set of brooches (pins)
- $95 – A 13cm brown, rainbow, amago, or iwana figurine on driftwood base
- $120 – A 20cm brown or rainbow figurine on driftwood base
- $179 – A 20cm brown or rainbow figurine on driftwood base
- $196 – A 23cm rainbow on driftwood base
There’s something for everyone, I would imagine these would even make great gifts for that tough to buy for fishing friend. (Grab a pair of those pins, and keep one and give one away). Be sure to check out the river peak Kickstarter page to sign up for alerts on for when the crowdsourcing begins, as well as before it closes.

Do you have a story to tell? A photo to share? A fly recipe that’s too good to keep secret? If you would like to contribute content to Tenkara Angler, click HERE for more details.
Thinking. I’ll have to discuss this with Kris Franqui. 🙂
