Coulee Region TU Hosts Matt Sment on January 18th, 2023

Join Matt Sment for an introduction to tenkara fly fishing in person or live-streamed! The presentation includes an overview of rods, lines, and flies, and will cover fundamental concepts such as casting, hookset, landing, and fly manipulation. Exploring Tenkara Live Stream Presentation - Matt Sment - Tenkara Angler

Matt’s career in adventure leadership and training stretches more than two decades. Published in several media formats, Matt has been a featured presenter at the Appalachian Tenkara Jam, the Tenkara USA Summit, the Midwest Tenkara Fest, and speaks regularly at angling clubs and conservation groups. As co-founder of the Badger Tenkara company (2014-2019), he designed rods, delivered instruction, and promoted tenkara fly fishing all over the United States. Matt is currently keeping busy with guiding, instructing, and serving as Managing Editor, Education at Tenkara Angler.com . He is proud to call the Wisconsin Driftless region his home water.

Coulee Region Trout Unlimited is 501 c3 non-profit all volunteer organization and chapter #278 of Trout Unlimited. CRTU began in 1974 and serves Crawford, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Richland, and Vernon counties in Wisconsin’s Driftless Region.

    I won’t be in the area, but may watch online.

    …Will your presentation be geared toward novice anglers? intermediates? advanced tenkara anglers?

    Will you be covering both tightline nymphing with a tenkara rod and kebari fishing?

      It will be an overview of the fundamental concepts and equipment and basic technique, intended as an introduction for those who may be unfamiliar or a recharge for those who want to refresh their understanding.
