Yep, you read that headline correct. A few weeks ago it was Matt Sment, and today I’m excited to welcome Jason Sparks to the Tenkara Angler team!
For those of you that haven’t met Jason…
Jason Sparks is a leading ambassador for tenkara fly-fishing and founded Appalachian Tenkara Anglers, a prominent Facebook-based community. He also established Tenkara Jam as the first multi-vendor educational exposition in North America and developed the first state supported tenkara curriculum – which he conducted for the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission.
Jason has written articles for Tenkara Angler, Blue Ridge Outdoors, Southern Trout, and Tenkara Talk. He is a Navy Veteran that has fished the world in waters from the Azores to the Appalachians. Jason carries a tenkara rod with him everywhere he goes.
It is going to be incredible to have Jason Sparks as a part of the editorial team. Matt and I are so thrilled to have him onboard as there are few people that build a sense of “community” better. Look no further than the aforementioned Appalachian Tenkara Anglers Facebook group and past years’ Tenkara Jam gatherings as prime examples.
I think you’ll find Jason to be an energetic teacher, contrary thinker, engaging writer, and just an all-around good guy. Plus, Jason has serious fixed-line fishing skills too.
Please join me in welcoming Jason Sparks to Tenkara Angler!
